Courses

Several courses were organized on “Recommendations for the Design of Landslide Risk Mitigation Measures” (guidelines issued on 2023 – in Italian) in Rome - November 2023, Milan - January 2024, Rome - March 2024, Bolzano – May 2024.

IAGIG

On June 2024, in Turin, between June 7 and 8, the thirteenth edition of the Annual Meeting of Young Geotechnical Engineers (IAGIG), an annual initiative of the Italian Geotechnical Association (AGI), took place with great enthusiasm. The event welcomed over 120 young geotechnical engineers from various backgrounds, including freelancers, public and private sector employees, young entrepreneurs, recent graduates, and researchers.

Guidelines

Thanks to the valuable contribution of the scientific committee, the guidelines on “Planning and Execution of on-site Geotechnical Investigations” and the guidelines on “Geotechnical Monitoring and Inclinometer Measurements” were issued (in Italian).

Publications

Conference on Geosynthetics




In October 2024, the XXXIII edition of the National Conference on Geosynthetics was held in Bologna. The attendance of almost 100 people proved the high quality of the speakers and proceedings.

During the conference on Geosynthetics, a prize was awarded for the best thesis on the use of geosynthetics at the undergraduate and doctoral levels.

Croce Lecture

On 18th December 2024 the XXI Croce Lecture was held in Rome and Prof. Antonio Gens, Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya (UPC), presented an excellent Lecture on “Brittle failure in Geotechnics”. The designated lecturer for the 2025 Croce Lecture is Prof. Mario Manassero.

In memory of Prof. Barla and Prof. Jamiolkowski

Two events were jointly held in Turin in memory of Prof. Giovanni Barla and Prof. Michele Jamiolkowski: the Conferences on Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering and the Geotechnical Conference in Turin both organized by the Polytechnic University of Turin on behalf of AGI

AGI-CISM

AGI and CISM (International Centre for Mechanical Sciences) have a collaborative agreement to organize an annual course to focus on main geotechnical aspects.
On Novembre 2024 Prof. Gianfranco Russo chaired the course on Numerical analyses for geotechnical design-.
